Williams Defender Upright Arcade Game + Stargate Boardset + Extra Boards / Parts.I have owned this game for about 20 years, during which it has always been kept indoors in a climate controlled environment. It is difficult letting this one go, and I would like it to find a home with someone who will continue to maintain it. I cannot ship this game;local pickup only. I can help you move the game into your vehicle, but please bring an appliance dolly because we will have to go up 6 steps and down 2 steps to get the game into the garage.
Here are most of the important details about the bundle
Defender:
* Defender upright cabinet, with fantastic side art with a few scuffs; game runs perfectly
* matching serial number 470193 on the CPU, ROM, and I/O boards; no SN tag on the sound board
* I replaced the original monitor a few years ago with a new 19" WG CRT monitor with digital control pad for screen adjustments; looks amazing and absolutely no burn-in;
* original monitor bezel and instruction card look great;
* excellent condition original control panel - I replaced the buttons and worn out controller several years ago with fantastic reproduction hardware; control panel has a little bit of cigarette burn;
* switching power supply;
* the old linear power supply is still inside and the 5V and 12V LEDs light up, but I have not tested the supply or done any work on it in all of the years I have owned the game;
* battery backup for 5101 SRAM moved off of the main board and onto the metal back panel;
* keys and locks for the back door and coin door; left and right coin mechanisms still work; the back door is not original, but does fit nicely
* original wiring harness section for the coin door, monitor power, marquee lamp, and backdoor switch interlock; when I bought the game, the rest of the wiring harness was missing, so I made a new one that works very well
* For a while I was running a Stargate boardset in the defender cabinet, and I added connectors to the switching power supply and wiring harnesses so you can swap the power to the boards when you feel like playing the other game
* the top black bracket holding the marquee in place is not original
Stargate:
* working Stargate boardset (Revision B) mounted on Defender sized metal back panel
* battery backup moved off of the CPU board onto the back panel
* prior owner used a GTE 2114 SRAM for high scores / settings; it works fine, but you probably want to replace it with a lower power 5114 / 5514 / 6514 that won't kill the batteries as quickly
* SRAM is socketed for easy replacement
* spare, working, ROM board with2732 EPROM set
* spare, working I/O board
* working Stargate control panel (with all the buttons and joystick); it was in somewhat rough shape when I received it: the structure had been cut to fit into a Defender upright cabinet,the wiring was cut up, and the overlay was a little cracked and cut; the control panel works fine, but it really needs to be replaced with a fully compliant Defender sized control panel if you will run the boardset in the Defender cabinet; it should be easy to make one by cutting / drilling a new control panel and moving the controls over, but it would need a new overlay of some kind; I repaired the wiring by adding a connector and a cable extension that plugs into the connector to reach the boardset
* this boardset did not come with a wiring harness for power connections, so I made one that is serviceable, but it is not original
Parts:
* Stargate: Non-working ROM board - there is a short between two address pins that is difficult to locate (needs new ribbon cable and some other attention to get it running again);
* Stargate: 4 spare CPU boards 1) Revision D (missing decoders), 2) Revision D (missing decoders), 3) Revision 0 (missing daughter card and decoders) and 4) Revision D (has decoders, looks great, not booting)
* Defender: 1 spare parts CPU board, later revision (board is in bad shape - has been scavenged for a few parts and would be difficult to get running again); has the two decoders still in their sockets
* 4 sound boards (untested, all 4missing the sound ROMs)
* Many 2532 EPROMs, some with original Williams Stargate labels; a couple of these are gold-pin EPROMs with weak or broken pins; the others are in fine shape
* Many extra 2732 EPROMs
* 1 spare widget boards, working except for 2 player start input - probably just a bad inverter and easy to fix
* 2 new reproduction controller hardware sets in case your controllers ever wear down
* About 93 (ninety-three) 4116 /AM9016EPC RAMs across the various boards
* Spare capacitors, resistors,headers, fuses, door locks, crimp pins, 74xxx ICs and other miscellaneous spare parts.
* NOTE: there is no warranty on Defender or its parts, the Stargate Boardset, or any other item included in this sale, express or implied; we will make sure it is working when you pick it up, and ongoing maintenance is the buyer's responsibility
