I originally bought these beautiful pieces at an antique mall in Maryland while visiting my son. I've used them in my library in New Jersey, and now they are back in Maryland at our townhouse. I don't have very much room here, so I am listing for sale.
I cannot be sure of age, but they were sold to me as antiques.
The pair are very interesting.
Made of a heavy brown stone, they have carved foo dogs as well as very long verses on the front. I've seen some listed that show poems. As I can't read Chinese, I can't be positive of the meaning. I'll include a close-up photo.
While they look like stamps or seals, there is no carving on the bottom.
They measure 7-1/8” tall, 2-15/16” wide and 2-1/16” deep.
Each piece weighs 3 pounds, 5 ounces.
Condition
:
One dog has a very small chip on the top that I can feel and can see upon close inspection (see close-up photo).
There is some scratching.
One has a dark spot on the bottom (part of the natural variation in the stone) that is also recessed.
