    This is a howlite bracelet with cloisonne and coral . The bracelet is approximately 7 1/4" long.
    Coral is a polyp that live on the exoskeletons of their ancestors and form reefs. There are many different species of coral and they range in color from white, orange, pink, blue, red and black. Sometimes coral is dyed. There are soft and stony corals. Soft corals don't build reefs and are plant like. Stony coral has an exoskeleton of calcium carbonate. and build reefs. Coral reefs are found in the oceans around the world. The largest reef being the Great Barrier Reef.
    CARE OF CORAL
    Coral is soft and it has a hardness of 3.5 on the Mohr Scale.
    Clean with a soft clean cloth and rinse in warm soapy water. The soap must not contain chemicals. Never soak coral. Never clean with chemicals, jewelry cleaner or a ultrasonic cleaner. Never swim or shower with coral jewelry. Remove jewelry before doing household chores, and put on jewelry after applying make-up, perfume and hairspray. Store separately in fabric pouch or wrap in tissue paper to prevent scratching.

    It is a method by using wire such as gold, silver, brass or copper to form compartments which separate the areas of enamel paste of many colors. It is then fired , smoothed and polished
    It spread to the West by the 18th century. Most cloisonné is used in Japan and China.
