    Details
    Description:
A beautiful mint state silver 1851 three-cent piece (Trimes). The date 18951 represents the first year for this type of coin. This is a Type I coin and is graded by PCGS as Mint State "MS65". The coin has a PCGS Population (200/152) and NGC Census: (183/87). It's mintage is 5,447,400. It is in a PCGS slab. The coin itself is better than the scan shows and has very good details with all star points visible as well as the outline of the shield on the obverse. The date is very readable as are all the legends. As you can see from the photo, the details on the reverse are also very bold and all there with no observable wear commensurate with its mint uncirculated state. The coin has quite a bit of tarnish but is still great looking. These coins were designed by James Longacre and were minted in Philadelphia and New Orleans. This coin is from the Philadelphia mint. Early US coins such as this are gradually getting difficult to find, especially in such high mint state like this one. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.
